Do differen't colors in flake food symbolize a differen't taste for fish? I ask because there WERE differen't colors, and because my neon seems to eat only the red flakes and the occasional yellow flake. I have never seen the neon eat a green flake before though.

So is it something about the color? Or do different flakes have differen't taste?

Yeah, I would also like too know whether the different coloured flakes are different flavours. My Mollies seem to avoid the pink flakes in favour of the white and orangey brown.

I think the green flakes may contain more plant material while the red ones contain meat. The fish that are primarily carnivorous always seem to go for the red flakes while the herbivores go for the green. The yellow ones seem to be enjoyed by both sides. (Maybe they contain both, for omnivorous fish).

I use Formula One flakes and they are all the same color. Both my carnivorus and plant loving fishe like them.
I would guess that the colors are added for the sake of the human feeding them. Same goes for cat and dog foods. Unnessesary dyes are often added to lend eye apeal for us humans.

Of course I could be wrong.

I thought the color of the flake always meant a different kind of taste.

Maybe some fish are colourblind, mine seem to eat them all. Strangly though, my lobster prefers red flakes when he can find them, Ive seen him avoid the green ones.

Guess I cant tell him to eat his greens or there will be no desert. :D

Ok my findings

I used one green one red and one black.

They all taste the same. There not to bad but I wouldnt try it agian.

They fell weird as the start to get wet on your tounge. And the aftertase is strange.

So not it is just colouring.

OH well I didn't say not for human comsumtion (I didnt eat them I spat them out I could get stringy poo

The flakes i use are called phonix.
