Fl Lighting Power

Guys with regards to FL tubes , in the hardware shops they sell them in different watts.
I read some where in aquarium standard it is 2WPG or 3WPG so is there a conversion or am i suppose to ask for a particular watts light.

It depends on your tank size planted tanks normally have around 2watts per gallon so for a 55gallon tank you would need around 110W of light. 110/55=2wpg.
