Fishy News - Attacked For Killing Goldfish

On my commute into work, I read the free "Metro" newspaper every morning. I'm sure there must be a fish-lover who writes/contributes articles, as there's often "something fishy" in the news !
So I thought I'd share.

Sadly the only newslink I could find on the web is of the "Sun Newspaper" - just to add, I'm *not* a Sun reader

Amazing scales of justice .

A WOMAN faced court yesterday for hitting a neighbour who flushed her goldfish down the loo.

Anne-Marie Smith, 39, yelled “fish murderer” before grabbing Anna Sharples, 27, by the hair — then punching her in the face.

The rift started after Anna and her mum Susan Sheridan, 50, turned up at Smith’s home and offered a new tank to replace the one in which she kept the fish, called Bubbles.

Smith then said she believed there was something wrong with the creature.

Anna and her mum thought it was diseased and dropped it in the lavatory, magistrates in Wigan, Greater Manchester, heard.

Three days later Smith confronted Anna at her home three doors away and attacked her.

JPs ordered her to pay Anna £125 compensation after admitting common assault.

She was also sentenced to a 12-month community order.

Anna, from Wigan, said last night: “She was behaving like something out of a horror movie, it was scary.

“All over a stupid fish. It’s unbelievable.”

Hn, I wonder if Anna was only punched once in the face, as the article implies?

If she was only punched once in the face, then I can't see how the fish owner was acting like something out of a horror movie.

I once punched someone for killing my parakeet by accident.

You know, you get a little involved with those creatures you care for, even if it's just monetary.

Sometimes an emotional response, while unwise, takes a physical form.

i broke this guys nose at my old school.

he was putting hamsters in buckets and filling them with water and the final straw was strapping one to a firework.
