Hey guys-
Our anniversary is coming up and SOMEONE *cough cough* only tells me that he wants something for the tank. He's mentioned wanting a new light set up for our 29g or 'anything for the tanks'. He usually makes the calls on what new equip/new goody we have to have for the tanks, so I'm a little clueless when it comes to all that. Which got me thinking...

What would be a great gift for the fish-lover in your life? (doesn't have to be lighting related haha, whatever your idea is welcome!)

Yes, he reads this, no I'm not concerned- it's been a few weeks and I've yet to see a link or any more details... so I need help from the TFF crew 8) (most of our friends think we're crazy with the whole fish-thing so they're no help)

Any ideas/suggestions are totally welcome! Thanks!

LOL I don't know my budget yet, I tend to overdo things but I'm just trying to get ideas so then maybe I can figure out what is/isn't in the budget (if that makes sense?)

We've talked about CO2 and he doesn't want to get into that, RO however I don't even know if we *could* get that- we are in an apartment. Maintience is nice enough about ignoring our 3 tanks... and our ferrets... they might get mad if we screwed with the plumbing LOL

How about a cool new fish (granted, you aren't already stocked). Or a new tank!!!! LOL
I guess I would stick with the lighting idea he gave you... even if you have to just get a gift certificate and let him pick out exactly what he wants.
Sorry I wasn't of more help!

A cloth tape measure marked at the longest tank you can fit in :hey: Just write on the tape "it can be this big" :)

Then you can assist with choosing the right new tank to fit the space. IMO, if you can fit a larger tank, it would be a waste upgrading the 29g.

Moon lights are a nice addition if you are on a budget. Anniversary & mood... err... moon lights sound nice.

A tank upgrade would be the best, consider a 65 gallon, it has an 18"x36" footprint, while the 29 has a 12"x30" footprint. It's ony 6" larger each direction, and more than doubles your tank capacity.

I honestly hate it when people give me live fish as gifts. You're case would be a bit different however as you know what he would want, so you could potentially go that route. Moon lights as someone suggested are a nice addition to any tank and actually encourage spawning by simulating more natural conditions (I bought 2 on ebay awhile back for $10 each). If you don't have a Python Water Changing system yet that's another option. Drs. Foster and Smith's website has a nice page on gift ideas that I just used to find a gift for my dad last month for his birthday.

Oh- you guys have some great ideas. I'd LOVE to do a bigger tank but we agreed not to until we are in a house (our lease acctually says you cannot have tanks at all! they just let us slide..). I like everyones ideas so far, thank you so much! I like the fish dinner too, mmmmmm. :good:

Ooooh, digital thermometer, that's a good idea! We don't have one of those. I'm actually interested in starting a killi tank myself ;-} Just starting to research the idea lately, your reading my mind!
