JBL Gyrodactol is an effective preparation to combat gill and skin trematoda of the genus gyrodactylus and dactylogyrus in aquarium fish.
Increased breathing, (as for oxygen deficiency), shying at objects, jerky swimming movements in conjunction with shock colouring or apathetic "hanging around" in the aquarium are signs of infection with gill worms.

In the case of infection with skin trematoda, bloodshot areas of skin may also be observed. Infection of the gills may be diagnosed using simple means as follows: catch the suspected fish and lay them on a damp surface, then, with a pair of tweezers, carefully raise one gill cover. The white worms may be easily recognised using a magnifying glass (10x).

Contains 20 tablets

i have cherry shrimp will this kill them cos the plant food i used killed off lots of my cherrys .Is there a natural way to get rid of the parasites ?
sorry for all these questions

I would remove any invert as they don't tolerate parasite meds.
Scroll down to 13 gill flukes.

You need a med to kill gill flukes they are nasty and cause bacterial infection.
In there hooks they carry a nasty bacteria which enter the bloodstream of the fish when it pierces the skin.
Thats why its best to use a bacterial med after the flukes meds.
You can use other meds with wormer plus.

o thats a pain in the bum cos i havent got a cycled tank to put my snails and shrimps in for the length of the treatment
thanks for the help ;)

You can buy little plastic tanks there not that expensive.
Wormer plus kill snails.
I would go with the wormer plus as there no messing about with this med, the jbl one you have to have a certain ph.

There some tanks here.

Though you will need a heater and filter.
Never kept strimps so don't know how you keep them.

i got an elite 14 , elite 21 in the shed lol but i'm just worried about my shrimp grrrrrrrrrrrrrrr
the shrimps need a well cycled tank cos the slightest bit of ammonia or nitrite kills them -- going to have a nervous breakdown now lol

Do you have a filter to the elite 14.
As you just cut abit of mature filter sponge of your main filter and add it to the other filter.

I highly doubt its gill flukes, this seems to be the first thing people think when they see fish flicking. I have always had this happen with livebearers. They seem to need super clean water. Try doing daily small water changes for a week or so. This always seemed to help mine.

The fish show 4 signs of gill flukes.
Red inflamed gills, flicking and rubbing, swimming in a jerky movement, and laboured breathing.

water is perfect
0 ammonia
0 nitrite
10 nitrate
7.2 ph

but i did take the worst fish to the LFS (small local aquariest) and he said there was nothing in the gills but he did see 1 small white fleck under close examination and he has advised i treat with white spot plus giving the 2 full doses and then see how they go cos he's sure it is white spot - but without breakout of lots of spots

When we arrived home we found that our orange hi fin platy (one of the only ones with a black tail) has got one or 2 white specs on her tail and face

So we'll see how we go

Thanks for the help

White specs on eyes can be flukes called eye flukes.
The tails do they look like grains of salt.
You said the fish had red inflamed gills, at the top of the tank, swimming in a jerky movement is this correct.

Did he use a magifying glass as flukes are hard to see with the naked eye.

yes he did use a magnifying glass and used stress stuff before he looked at her and put something else in the water so he could get a good look without her wiggling too much -- she looked dead but she werent
he said he couldn't see any parasites and to treat with the white spot plus treatment ( that i already got so didnt have to buy from him) and come back next weekend if they are still doing it and he'll have another look -- also he said to keep any dead fish for him and take them to him asap after they die so he can have a really good look and cut them open and see if there are any internal parasites .

Do you think the fish have whitespot or just fobbing you off.
