Got my tank all set up this week, filter, heater, ornaments, everything. I'm getting a bottle of ammonia tomorrow in preparation to start the cycling process. I have yet to get a test kit. What I wanted to know is where would the best place be to buy one? Just at the local LFS? Or online? How much should I expect to pay for a test kit, and how exactly do they work?

Thanks a lot.

get the API master kit from ebay, they are about £17 posted and in lfs they are about £25-30  dont bother with the test strips as they are pretty inaccurate and a waste of money, the master kit works by mixing liquids in a test tube along with your tank water to give a more accurate result :good:

Hello,
Click here, this will take you to ebay with all the api freshwater master kit current auctions. Some good prices.
Skins.

I like the API test kit too. Had strips, a tetra master test kit and the API mini master and the API blows the others out of the water in my opinion. Very easy to use and read.

I agree with Uriel :good:

Thanks for the help guys. I will go for the API test kit then, and look for the best price on ebay
:)

I'll start a log when I cycle the tank as well.
