Hi there, please can someone tell me which are the best plants to use during fishless cycling. I don't want to spend a fortune on plants and them kill them all with the amonia. Have just set up my tank and have 2 x sword plants at present but want to get some different types please.

Any advice please!!

I planted everything then started my cycle and nothing died. As long as you're lighting is in check, pushing 3 watts per gallon with proper bulbs you should be okay, of course, fertilizing too. There is no level of "ammonia sensitivity" for plants. But if you a plant to remove some ammonia, plant some elodea. Otherwise, get planting

Just use proper fertillization and enough light, maybe even CO2 too and the plants should do just fine. They actually assist the cycling since they balance the nitrification process and offer a growth environment for the bacteria.
Ammonia (NH3) ,which in neutral or acidic water is 99% ammonium (NH4+, which is a whole lot less toxic than pure ammonia) works as a plant nutrient so that's not what you need to worry about. The only thing you need to worry about is nitrite which is the only truly harmful compund to the plants but it should't build up to harmful concentrations unless you like really really majorly overdose the ammonia.

I screwed a bit with my first fishless cycling and I got my NO2-reading up to over 100mg/l but the plants didn't seem to mind. In a proper cycling the nitrite shouldn't be even half of that so I'd say you don't need to be worried ;)

This is true in a sense, but not all plants use NH4+ directly... -_-
Elodea I know is one that does though.
