Hi, i started my cycle last wednesday (on my 38G) and its all going well. My ammonia is dropping within 24hrs and theres nitrite present, allthough it isnt dropping significantly yet.
Do i just keep adding ammonia now, and waiting for the nitrite to drop, or is there anything else i need to do?
How long can expect until it will be sufficient to add fish???

Thanks alot, Mikey

Keep adding the ammonia, otherwise the ammonia bacteria will have nothing to feed on and die. I don't know how long it's likely to take for the nitrites to drop, seems to be different for everyone.

The nitrite munching bacteria usually take a good bit longer to develop than the ammonia munchers - mine took at least twice as long.

i'm sure you know, but remember that you need to aim for processing all your ammonia and nitrite down to zero from 5ppm ammonia in less than 12 hours.

looks like you've had a good start, but there's stil a fair way to go yet!
