hey guys got a bottle of nutrafin cycle with my marina 60 tank if anyone has used this to start a tank before how long did it take to start getting descent readings? or should i go back to basics and add in ammmonia?

Cheers :)

i used it it does not work mate belive me. just use good old ammonia. i chucked a bit in every now and then does no harm but wont cycle the tank.

ok cheers and what is the best ammonia to buy ?
cos ive never bought ammonia before :p normally just chuck in some food or buy a guppy and put it in to start off the cycle :) its what we learned at college.

best place is ebay kleen off takes about 2 days to arrive. thats what i was advised to use by all the members on here.

you ok with cycle process

I haven't used it but I think if you intend to dose with ammonia you should dose very low levels, no more than 0.5ppm, to try to emulate a fish-in cycle, which is what this product is designed for. Even 0.5ppm is too much really but you have to be practical as to what your test kit can read.

urrm i get the jist of it you add the ammonia then wait for the nitrites and nitrates to appear till the ammonia levels are on 0 ? tht correct?

and is there any ammonia i can buy at asda wallmart? :L cba to wait two days :L

only place i found is homebase or boots online.
fishless cycle yes does ammonia to 4 wait for it to drop to 0 then keep doing that till it drops in 12 hours test for nitrites daily once its dropped and your aiming fo 0 nitrites and about 20 nitrate i beleve and wack your heat up to around 30 degrees

ok turning up the heat now! i only have the api test strips at with no ammonia on them, is there any way i can tell if the ammonia has all gone by the amount of nitrites / nitrates?

Cheers
