I started my fishless cycle yesterday. My brother has an old tank but he only has a few pieces and they are to big to fit in my tank.

Would getting some water from his tank help a lot or is it not work the 30 minute round trip?

What do you mean by a "few pieces"?

If your brother has a tank set up with a mature filter, there will be a way to get some mature media from there. It may involve cutting some sponge or placing a ceramic ring in an internal filter, but any type of mature media will help a lot.

See this post I just made a little while ago: http://www.fishforums.net/index.php?s=&amp...t&p=2532257

Yeah, like said above^

Just get some of his filter media to place into your filter.

The beneficial bacteria that we colonize do not live in the water column, but they live in the filter, on the media the most.

So by getting some of his filter media, you are actually getting some beneficial bacteria to kick-start your cycle!
