Ok, as stated in a previous post, i am in the process of doing a fishless cycle on my 300ltr tank.I started on the 7-10 with dechlorinated water, added 15ml 9.5% amm with temp 29 & couple airstones on the go.
8-10= amm 4.5
10-10= amm 2.6, nitrite 0.2
11-10= amm 2.0, nitrite 0.4
12-10= amm 2.0, nitrite 0.2-0.3, nitrate 20
PH around 8.5 from start.
Now as this is first fishless cycle i have ever done, can anybody tell me if this is ok, as i was waiting on the amm to drop to zero before topping backup to 3-4% but hasn't done so & yet the nitrate has already started.What do i do now, as i dont see how i could have missed the nitrite spark & amm drop.Also, i need to top up water level, as has dropped a good 10ltr, is this ok, or will it affect the readings, if i do this before dosing more amm.All help much appreciated thanks
Have also done a tetra test strip which am getting-
kh 12
gh 12
nitrite 1
nitrate 30-40
ph 6.8
chlorine 0 (probably)
These bottom results are from tap water, which are virtually the same

I know that there not as accurate as liquid testing, but there all i have fir the kh, gh & chlorine at the minute, so am not gonna pay much attention to ones i also liquid tested.
