The tank is a Fluval Roma 125L with plants, rock , bogwood and gravel substrate.

We also seem to have a fair few snails imported with the plants (i'm removing them daily and have just spotted egg clusters which i'm removing to) and hair algae which hopefully i'm controlling and will settle down and disappear.

I'd settled on the idea of a couple of Bolivian Rams and something like Danios and Cardinal Tetras but i'm wondering if the PH of 7.8 might be a bit high for the tetras in particular?

Also, any ideas for combining a snail and algae eater? Something that won't eat plants?

Cheers

2 dwarf gourami
4 pakistani [yo-yo] loaches
15 neons
5 cories
8 or 9 endlers or guppies
2 bristlenose plecs [normal, normal longfinned, albino, albino longfinned :p] a pair maybe, and sell the fry, which go like wildfire on here :D

Nice looking combination John.

Just looked them all up though and i make that about 80 inches of fully grown fish in a 25 gallon(ish ) tank. Is one inch per gallon not still a good guide?

as long as you add the fish gradually, and have good maintenance and filtration [along with your plants] they should be o.k, plus neons, endlers & cories don't create as much waste as other fish of their size.

The posted suggestion seems like a lot of fish and a lot of explosive breeding potential to me... It looks like your tank is similar to a standard US 29 gallon. I would suggestion searching for "stocking 29 gallon" and see what comes up.

How about something like:
1 Dwarf Gourami
12 Harlequin Rasboras
1 pair Bol. Rams

I was going on UK gallons so my mistake. Some interesting looking fish combinations here for sure. Thanks for the input.

Still have a feeling i will need a snail eater, or can i just rely on them running out of food as a means of control?

I'll check out the stocking 29 gallon search.

for a tank that has impact...go for three or four species:

a centre peice
a shoaler
and a bottom feeder
and sometimes a surface feeder like hatchets.

2 honey gouramis
30 ember tetras
8 hasborous cories

thats whats going in my 125
