I'm in the process of doing a fishless cycle and I'm researching my prospective new fish. I have a 30 gal aquarium, heater, filter, silk plants, hiding places, floating thermometer, etc..... My tap water's pH is around 7.6. I've been reading and looking and reading and reading.... :)

Here's the list of prospective fish I have come up with. Please take a look and see if they all seem capatible to you. Any other suggestions??

Silver Dollars
Bala Sharks
Zebra Danios
Platys
Cherry Barbs

The other important thing is I have a violet goby that I will have to move into the tank after I am sure it is stable with the new fish in it. My goby is in with my ACF right now and while they seem to be doing ok together, I can't leave him in there because the tank is too small. The goby and ACF were the only ones I was able to rescue from my tank disaster.

Hi Dawn
Welcome to the forum
I havent kept some of these fish but I do know from what Ive seen on the forums that bala sharks are a no-no.They will simply get too big for the tank.Silver dollars get quite big too and are notorious for eating plants.
Dont know anything about gobys
If you post in the forums you will probably get a lot more response than in here.

Hello Dawn and welcome to the forum. :hi:

I have to agree with Weaver about the balas and silver dollars. Ballsa grow to about 10" and SDs to about 8". If you had the option to rehome them later on, you may be OK. I have a freind that has a couple 6" balas in a 29 gallon and they are cramped even at that size. SHe is going to end up taking them back to the fish store just to get them out of that tank. The other fish you have listed should be fine in that tank.

Whoops! I didn't realize I was in the intro forum...sorry. I'm off to repost:)
