Just wondering how long people spend watching their fish? I have a small room between my lounge and dining room wich an arch each end that I use only for the fish tank and arm chain. I seem to spend as much spare time as I can sitting in my dedicated chair and watching each fish go about doing thier thing. I guess it it was in my lounge I would be able to glance across when ever I wanted but there is no room. How about everyone else?

all our tanks are in the front room at the moment so i sit and watch mine while my fiance watches TV

i watch them for an hour and half to two hours a night to get know behaviours and to notice if there something wrong wit them and treat them as quick as poss

Well my tank is right next to me now so whenever im on the computer really and about 10 mins every day when i come home from work

Probably 1 and a half. I watch every fish's movement's, so i know their behaviour, adn can tell if sometihng's worng. Also, they are very entertaning.

tonight, all night so I can watch the new additions settle and make the place their own  . Normally on a daily basis I put in around 5 or 10 minutes an hour just observing interaction, signs of disease, plants dying etc.

A bit of observation is the best way to get an idea of how your tank is doing - there are so many things happening but when you actually take a good look at what is a true living environment you can see what issues need dealing with. Are my plants dying? do I need to move that plant for light, is that fish shy and not getting enough cover, is that fish being bullied, are they pairing off, he's slow, and not swimming properly........ feeding time will tell you how the tank is doing......

I feed my fish then wait to see which fish want and take food - this is when they are most active and a good indicator of general health. Any fish that don't come chasing food get more of my attention and observation - its also a great time to watch their personalities develop and see who thinks they rule the tank and who is in charge, who is first to the surface for fresh flake.....

For me, the enjoyment comes when you lift the lid and the bold and brave come to the surface to pick at the food from your hands. Then they are friends, not furniture.
