when i had an ick problem i tried a few different treatments that didnt work for me like maracyn and clout
so i did some reading on Ick and found an article that a guy on a cichlid forum wrote about understanding it
and treating it.
it's near the bottom of the article,
http
/www.cichlid-forum.com/articles/ich.php
i basically raised my temp and added the salt and within a few days everything was fine, i had lost a few fish
but the ick was already so bad when i came across this article that it was inevitable
personally, my fish seem to be doing fine with that temp so i kept it up and have not had any problems since then
and i have added new fish to replace the deaths.
so i would suggest the 'kill it (ick) with heat' method, if your fish aren't completely cold water fish, and that might
bypass having to use anything that would hurt your snails
