A few weeks ago I decided to put a tiny slice of mango in the tank, just to see if the fish would eat it. To my surprise, two of our Silver Dollars devoured the slice of mango. I used to have a Pacu that would eat veggies, fruits and meat and stuff, but its been a long time. I have two Silver Dollars, a Red Hook Silver Dollar, a Sailfin Pleco, some tetras, and a knifefish. What are some safe "treats" I can give them besides everyday fish food?

All kinds of vegetables: cucumber, zucchini (courgette), squash, leaf lettuce (avoid iceburg due to low nutritional value), shelled peas, sweet potatoes. Be sure to blanch all veggies first, you can even blanch, then freeze them, and just take some out to feed. As for fruit, I believe you can feed banana, mango (as you found out), and I've seen my LFS giving their goldfish orange slices. I'm not too sure about the oranges though. :good:

Zucchini is a favorite of my fish. Best of all it's not really messy either.

God Bless,
Joshua
