liveberers, neon or glow tetra, ram

Any small fish that will stay small should be fine for some fish its highly dependent on personality such as Siamese fighting fish (bettas) some will live with shrimp for years others will eat them in a matter of hours. Also shrimplets (babies) will be eaten by virtually any fish. If I was you I would make it a Crystal red shrimp exclusive breeding tank perhaps with a few snails then you could make a profit selling on the shrimp.

any number of fish, most livebearer bar the bigger ones like mollies or larger swordtails. corys, ottos, pretty much any catfish, all tetras, rasboras, endlers, small killifish.

thanks everyone for the help, with the killifish how many do you think i could put in the tank?ive got 4 cardinals in there and 2 corys at the moment

ummmm not sure as it would be the first for me with killifish what ones would you recommend to me?

i love killifish more i look at them and the one you have just shown is really nice and nice colouring aswell, ive seen a couple i like there this one FUNDULOPANCHAX GARDNERI and this aphyosemion splendopleure there the two id like as theyd brighten up the tank a bit.do you know how many i can get away with in my tank?manythanks for the help jonnyf84

dependant on which ones you go for of course, i'd say at least 7 or 8 average size killi's on top of your current stocking.

cool well ill have a look around and see what i fancy and what shops sells them.big thanks for your help :D

? I take it your wondering if they are suitable to go with shrimp yes?

well the Apistogramma Bitaeniata (Banded dwarf cichlid) females wont grow to more than 5cm and males can get up to 9cm, cichlids can be quite aggresive fish and at this size they would pose a threat to your shrimp, especially when breeding, when not breeding it is more dependent on the individual fish if they areaggressive or not, but fully grown they would see your shrimp as a meal - especially if they are smaller shrimp like cherrys. They are best kept in groups of 10 or more due to there aggresivness in smaller numbers so unfortunately i would say they are not suitable. Really beautiful fish though.

The Apistogramma Borelli Opal (Borelli's Dwarf Cichlid) is more peaceful with a max size of around 7cm. Again, it's more down to the individual fish and the number of them that you buy, the more you buy the more they will take their aggression out on each other, if you get them as juveniles then it is more likely they will mature in harmony with the shrimp. Note that both these cichlids require low ph of 5-6.5, they appreciate frequent water changes and plenty of space.

Probably not the most ideal fish for your set up but if your adament on them i would go with the Borelli as appose to the banded.
