Have you had a fish that practically earned their stay?
I do - My common plec.
Bought him for $9.99 and I can retire my algae scraper.
I've literally not used it in my 55G for months...

What about you?
I'm signing off right now - Christmas eve party people are here!

My common pleco has earned his stay since when he was in the 10g he cleaned the whole tank of brown and green algae but the brown algae has come back since he has been gone but he has kept the long 20g tank clean.

All my fish have earned their stay but just living in the tank away from the tanks at the LFS :)

DD

My Betta albimarginata are earning their stay by making babies for me :p

Just got in from a few parties but all my fish earn their stay as they're all so great to watch!!!

I agree with that... I think all my fish earn their stay just by minding their own business. I can't put a price on the enjoyment I get out of them and can't imagine not having them around to watch.

Yeah, I get whatch'yall mean......but I ment like...well, never mind.
What fish does work in the aquarium? Like do you own a fish that does something besides your average goldfish?

Mine isn't a fish. My bamboo shrimp has earned his stay. I got him for $10, and he cleaned up my tank. My filter intake was nasty with plants hangin off, but he just feasted on it and cleaned it up.

my livebearers.
used thier fry to buy 3 bichirs.
which ironicly earned thier stay buy eating livebearers

My Common Pleco and the Golden Apple Snail (I know, not a fish) keep the tank glass clean. Haven't used the magnetic cleaner for months. Also the Pleco is very funny to watch. :)

Hmm, nothing (yet) in the practical sense, but once I install my kettle and fondue set I think the khulis can earn their keep by giving me hours of 'ooh, I see a loach! And another! Oh, wait, thats the same one...'
