Whilst cleaning my tank i accidentaly got some water in my mouth! Could i have gotten fish tb from this or anything else for that matter? Also what are the symptoms if i swallowed it rather than got it through a cut? Finally what is a better way to start the siphon and has anyone else drank water?

So getting water in my mouth means im not at risk because i didnt have long exposure? What are the symptoms if i am?

The form of tb that is transferable to humans affects the skin, it is not a respiratory ailment. You would need constant exposure, with open cuts on your hands, in an infected tank.

If a mouthful of tank water caused any ailments I would have been dead long ago. A week doesn't go by, for many years, that I haven't gotten a mouthful.

Haha thanks tolak that made me laugh as to how much i worry

Unless you have open sores in your mouth, or ulcers in your stomach, you are very unlikely to catch fish TB from contaminated water. Stomach acids normally dissolve it very quickly.
If you have open sores in your mouth then you would have to hold a mouthful of contaminated water for about a minute for it to become infected. Then the sore would probably be cleaned out by the saliva in your mouth.
When you get fish TB in a cut on your hand, you develop a localised sore that doesn't heal. Over months the sore slowly gets bigger. Doctors normally take a swab after a few months and have it tested for anything. Eventually they find out it is TB.
My dogs have eaten plenty of contaminated fish and they are still alive and well now. Water birds eat contaminated fish and have no adverse side effects.

The best way to start a gravel cleaner is to push the gravel cleaner into the tank and let it fill up with water. Put the end of the hose into a bucket. Lift the gravel cleaner up and out of the water but keep the open end above the rest of the gravel cleaner. When the water has half drained out thru the hose push the gravel cleaner back under water. Keep the open end upwards when putting the gravel cleaner under water. This allows the air bubbbles to come out of the gravel cleaner instead of going out the siphon hose and stopping the siphon.
With a bit of practice you will be able to start the siphon without having to suck on the end of the hose.

Well if your syphon tube is clear you should see the water coming and take your mouth off right before it gets to the end. Or just fill the vac end and turn it up so that the water will go down (straighten the tube so the gravity moves it) then when its almost empty fill the vac part and it should flow.
