right guys, I have set-up a(28 ltr) tank with only 4 Danios and 2 male +female red cherry shrimp, I am looking into soon buying a 60 ltr and keeping 4 zebra danios 8 neon tetras, 2 platy's, 2 guppies maybe a few more others, are these compatible? then in the empty 28ltr I am going to have a colony of about 50-100 cherry shrimp with plenty of plants for them to climb. I then have a very small 20 ltr, any ideas what I could put in there, cold water prefferably, any ideas will be extremely helpful and will be very greatful!! cheers!

I don't think anyone's going to bully anyone else. My only concern would be the Danios being too cramped in a 60l - they are fast-moving fish who like a lot of zooooming, which they can't get too much of in a 60l.

Someone more knowledgeable than me will comment on the 20l, but I don't think anything cold will go into something that small.

Here's a suggestion, you keep the Cherry Shrimp and a heater in the 20l, and put a Siamese Fighting Fish in the 28l.

Danios are very active fish, so the 60l tank would have to be 2ft min to house them. Neon tetras do best in a mature tank, so I would wait before putting them in. The fish are all compatible, but I'd be worried about the danios eating the shrimp as they can get quite big. The tank would need to be well filtered and have regular water changes as that stocking is quite heavy.

To get a good colony of shrimp going I'd advise a bigger tank of at least 40l, but the bigger the batter, as it is easier to control temperature and water parameters in a bigger tank and shrimp can be quite sensitive.

cheers,
Ben :good:

I think Danios are too active for your tank. Also don't add the Neon tetras until the tank has been running successfully for a month.

Oh, and :hi: to the forums.

cheers for all your replys guys :good: good idea the_lock_man will consider that :D Ben I do understand that the danios may eat the shrimp, that's why I need the 60l asap I would rather get a larger tank but being limited on space I'm not sure at this moment what size tank I'm limited to, Appreciate your reply. thanks for the advice on the neons! I wouldn't have known that! does any of you have an idea on a make of tank and hang-over filter that would work together ? thanks again!

I forgot to mention XeroTolerance thats a cool setup there, you'll have some very happy fish :) i'll keep you all posted.
