This is my 55 gallon. It really has nothing in it as I just added a fish to the tank awhile ago. I am not sure of what to add to it yet. Probably a few plants and some more gold fish. How many should I add? Any opinions?

Oscar and Parrot Cichlid :D

I like your 120,

It's actually nice to see young girls like yourself into fish keeping, especially keeping a oscar, reason i say this is that oscars are a "wet pet" and need more care than others like say livebearers, and also being interested enough to take the time and care into doing water changes, feeding, etc.

This is just my opinion, what does everyone else think, ?
Me being 17 years old and in the age group, dont know any girls at all into fish, its most likely rare

Your parrot seems really long, maybe its just me again !

I like em all !

Great fish Raech

I'm 17 and a girl and i like fish...i would even have an oscar if i had the room and approval of parentals haha. One day.

Actually come to think of it, i only know probably one other girl my age who is into fish..and shes the one that got me into it!! So there ya go.

Anyways nice big tanks! I would say definately put some plants in the 55 and some more goldfish. I dont know how many would be suitable though. I know crap all about gold fish haha. It nice to see one in a nice big tank though!

:)

Yeah I wish I could find girls around here who are really into fish keeping and not just cramming a bunch of random fish into a 10 gallon tank you know? But I can never find anyone who is as obsessed with fish as I am.
 Not even boys. When I first got my 120 gallon it was a community tank but I've always wanted just one large Oscar, they're my favorite type of fish. But my ex boyfriend had helped pick out the tank so he wanted to either go saltwater (which I'm not really into) or small community fish...so I picked small community fish. After having them for awhile I just got bored and lost interest in fish keeping. So I set up an add in the paper giving away my fish to anyone who had good homes for them. They were gone quickly and I started my 120 gallon over and bought a tiger oscar. Then a month or so later I bought a blood parrot and now they mate and she lays eggs often. :hyper: I think it's very cute haha.

And I had an extra 55 gallon so I decided to set that up and my friend has 2 gold fish in her 10 gallon and she decided to give me one as it was getting a little too big so I set up the 55 gallon and put him in there, that's why it doesn't really have much decoration or other fish for that matter. When I got him he was about 2 inches long, I've only had him for maybe a month and he has doubled in size. He just looks really lonely in that tank all by himself so I am definitely going to go out and get him some buddies.

And my parrot was sold as a black and white parrot fish, at the store she looked white with black dots but when I got her home she turned a bright yellow/orange/pink with green and blue dots on her tail fin. She is absolutely gorgeous and quite fiesty. It's safe to say she runs the tank, not my Oscar.

Add a bunch of weather loaches to the goldfish tank. And some black moors.. they're the coolest goldfish out there.
I haven't seen weather loaches around in the pet stores around here in awhile. But Black Moores are my favorites goldfish so I will definitely be getting one of those. I was thinking maybe one or two black moores and another shubukin goldfish. And then maybe some loaches. Not sure on the loaches yet.

I like your 120,

I am thinking maybe 4 gold fish...or maybe I should just stick with 2 and some loaches. I don't want to over stock or anything you know?

And I got into fish by keeping bettas. Haha. : )

for the 55 gal, id say get rid of the gold fish and get some cool fish!

Nice tanks though, wish i had a tank over 55 gallons.

-- I'm 16 years old and im a guy.... everyones telling their ages :)
6 tanks and counting!

Weather loaches would look good in the 55. Theres even a chinese restaurant here that sells them in monster size. As for the 120 a Fire Eel will be nice and it might match colours with the oscar.

No way! I couldn't get rid of my gold fish I love him haha. he needs some friends though :)

How big do fire eels get? I've never really been interested in eels but now that I look at them I think it could be fun to have

Nice 120 gallon, gotta love those oscars! I have one myself, his tankmate was sold to me as a "sweetheart bloodparrot" but is actually probably a midas x sweetheart parrot... she definitely has a lot of midas blood in her, whatever she is. She is tailless though, and genetically so, thank goodness... no tail cropping :). Mine think they're a pair too, so funny. They never actually mate though, they can't agree on a location . The midas hybrid laid eggs all by herself once, though, when they were still young and in a split tank.

Fire eels get around 3'... personally, I'd go with a bichir or two of some kind for that tank, they could better stand up to aggression should the cichlids decide they don't like them, and hey, bichirs are just awesome!

There are a lot of girls in the betta section, not sure how many are in the lower age range though... I'm a girl and 20, btw ;)

I know! I am so glad I decided to get an Oscar. Best fish I've ever owned. He lets me pet him, pick him up and do whatever as long as he knows he is going to get food afterwards.
 So cute. My blood parrot was sold to me as a black and white parrot fish, I was either going to get her or another oscar, an albino one. My boyfriend and I flipped a coin and picked the parrot fish. :D Aww I have never seen a tailless fish in a store before, but I think if I did I would have to buy it. They look so adorable. Tail cropping is a no no though. :(

I don't really know much about bichirs but I will definitely read up on them. I have only seen them at one fish store I have been to and they were tiny! I am scared if I buy them that small they'd end up in my oscar's belly.

gorgeous tanks and as an oscar owner myself I must say your oscar is awesome.I also have a parrot fish and they are great characters.

I have a fire eel in with my oscar and hes ok tho the oscar is only 2.5 inches!!!!

yeah fire eels are really pretty. I may buy a fire eel or a type of bichir.

Have a post in the oddballs section, the friendly people down there are sure to help you find some weird and wacky fish, have you thought about a baby whale?

Pictures

Might not grow big enough seeing as there are some fish that are gonna get big in there :)
