After a month of trying to get rid of my 40 gallon community, ive come to the realization that it wants to stay with me. After getting into bettas, i gotta say i really perfer them over other fish, and i find my neons and lampeyes to be boring. I would like to turn that tank into a female betta tank, but how would i go about rehoming all my current fish, without starving the bacteria to death in my tank when its close to empty? the only things in the tank i plan on keeping are the shrimp, cory cats and zebra pleco. its already heavily planted and cycled, but wouldnt the drop in fish kill alot of the bacteria? or am i wrong?

Couldnt you replace them in small numbers?

So like get rid of 2, same day get 2 new ones or get rid of 1, same day get 1 new one.

Not sure if it would work but thought I would just say :good:

my tetras are definatly not betta friendly, there not very friendly to my guppies either, they rip fins, so adding any to the tank while they are still in it would end up with alot of ripped up girls. ): I wish it would work though
