Hi

I'm thinking about setting up a 4 foot tropical tank.

I may have space for a 5 or even a 6 footer instead.

What are the advantages/disadvantages of a larger tank ie more/less maintenance.

With an outdoor pond I've been told the larger the better.....Is this true for an aquarium?

Thanks

Yeh, the bigger the better. You will have happier fish and less water fluctations.

i suppose ye you can get more fish in bigger fish and with this come nicer fish but it will be dearer and thats it really possibly a second longer for the water change so go for it man!

It gives you more fish varities to choose from also the amount of schooling fish you could also have. Also less water fluctuations when you have a bigger tank as someone mentioned above. However takes longer to clean, and fill and re-fill for water changes when you need them. May have trouble finding chemicals such as your water conditioner in bigger bottles in order to dose your whole tank. But that comes with the price of buying a bigger tank.
