In the last week since I did my last water change fish appear to be going into my filter. My golden danio was the 1st one to be in there but luckily I saw him swimming around so fished him out. My cardinal tetra was the 2nd fish to be caught in the filter. I thought he was dead as he had been missing for a couple of days but he was in the filter as well.

Today I had come back from a trip to the shops and my rummy nose head was sticking out and unfortunately he died.

My tank is 125l Juwell.

Has anybody had any experiences of this at all and anyway of stopping it?

Are you over filling the tank? The water line shouldn't come above the filter box, and also there is a 'comb' preventing fish from getting in, or there should be.

The tank is filled upto the water line so not sure how they got in.

Could they swim through the actual pump?

Most fish would be dissuaded from going near the pump due to the force of the water.

Has it got an adjustable flow? If so then how powerful is your filter pump?

my fish used to be able to get into my juwel filter box by swimming through the outlet pipe aperture, the gap round the outlet pipe, they are now too big to fit :)

Lost my first BN in there, lord knows how he squuzed his head through the little gap, but its the only way in! :(
