Fish suggestions

Hi, i have a 20 gallon tank.the place I live in has daytime temperature that peaks around 35 degree centigrade and at night it's close to 26°c.
Im thinking of getting angelfish or guppies.any suggestions?

I’m not sure any fish can handle temp swings of that degree.

Fish would need a slow temperature change so they don’t just go into shock. Maybe you can get an automated heater that keeps the tank a steady temperature and get a thermometer to make sure the temp is steady for about a week. Then you need to tell us the values of your water(ph, gh, etc).then we will tell you some stocking suggestions

Thanks for replies.It's fairly soft water with 7 ph.I was wondering if any fish were heat resistant that can thrive above 30°c.I dont think coldness is issue here to buy a heater.Most tropical fish has uppper limit of 30°c

You could get an automated chiller then set to a temperature you want. I don’t know any fish off the top of my head that like hot water except Florida native fish. But those aren’t very pretty and most get pretty big.

Is the tank water actually getting to 35C?

Perhaps move the tank to a cooler part of the house or get an air conditioner for that room.

About the only fish I would try would be gouramis or Bettas. They will be able to tolerate the low oxygen levels and high temperatures. However, the 10 degree fluctuations between day and night could be an issue.

Unfortunately,yes .But its only for about 4 hours a day rest of the day it would be about 30-32 degree celsius.
Thanks your advice Colin T .I will consider your suggestions.Im thinking about getting a cooling fan.

Others have answered with respect to the temperature issue. Yoou also asked about fish...a 20 gallon tank is not sufficient space for angelfish, but it would be for some other fish. You mention you have soft water, do you know the GH (general hardness) number? And a pH of 7 was mentioned. Guppies like all livebearers need moderately hard or harder water with a basic (above 7) pH, so we might be better looking at soft water species suited to the 20g tank size.

Hello and welcome to the forum, like @Byron said guppies will not work out but perhaps some type of tetra since they come from South American jungles. That is a major temp swing and they may not be able to handle it or also the upper heat temp.
