We have a ~5 year old Rainbow Shark that hasn't been well for the past week. I now suspect a swim bladder problem, and am wondering what we should do next.

About a week ago, we noticed him acting oddly (hanging out in a different part of his tank from his territorial spot, more up and down swimming than usual), plus he had a red circular mark on his side. The other fish seem fine.

We treated the whole tank with Furan 2 for 4 days. The red spot went away. Last night we did a 3/4's water change of the tank. He seemed to swim around normally after the water change, but this morning he is staying near the top of the tank, also standing on his head more than normal).

If it is a swim bladder problem, I'm not sure exactly how to treat it and was wondering if anyone had ideas. If it's constipation, feeding him a cooked pea seems impossible as he never eats from the surface and doesn't "hand feed."

Am looking for some advice - thanks!

It is a 30 gallon tank with a Biowheel filtration system - I've had this setup for about 3 years. How would I check oxygen and how would I increase it? The other Rainbow Shark seems fine.

Sadly if hes head standing he not going to make it sorry.

Headstanding, laying flat
Water quality problems, drug side effects, swimbladder infection, intestinal obstruction, late stage of infectious diseases
