What size tank (water volume plse) is ideal for silver sharks and silver dollars? Are there any fish that you do not mix with these?

thanx Lorna

Or larger.... I know of someone who had to rehome their silver sharks because they outgrew his 7ft tank.

So, unless you have an enormous tank, please stay away from the silver sharks. My kids were devastated when I told them this, but my tank is only 300 litres.

I think you could get away with a 4ft tank for silver dollars, as long as the tank is at least 18 inches tall.

Sorry, cannot give the dimensions in water volume as requested - obviously a 7ft x 2ft x 2ft tank has a very different stock capability than a 2x2x7 column. Most fish swim horizontally, not vertically!!

Thnx for this info tiger barb. My friend has got a tank which is only 100 ltres and he has got silver sharks/dollars in it. I was just wanting someone to confirm my thoughts about his tank being way too small for these fish. I have seen the sharks quite massive in display tanks at the LFS.

The problem you have now, of course, is whether to tell your friend that his fish will get stunted and lead an unnaturally short and painful life.... or whether to go and buy an 8ft tank so that you can rescue them all!!!!! :D
