im currently considering converting my shed to a fish room

just wondered if any of you have any pointers

thanks

I believe there is a great post in the DIY section where someone build a shed attachment to their house and made it into a sort of picture journal. This was quite some time ago, but you may still be able to find it!

Plan it out before you start doing it! You will need to build racks to hold the tanks. Also with a fishroom most people go with the air driven sponge filters. This would require you to haev a centralized air pump system.

yeah thats wat im thinking wat would you recommened as an exterior filter.

what kind of fish would you all recommend i have three 120l tanks for the shed

i would like to breed fish

Need to start with the insulation and electrics first M8 then move onto the stands.
Air ring mains in the ceiling, Box ponds for growing out.
Regards

Funny you should say that you want to breed fish as I do breed them. Are you looking for a challenge or something fairly easy to start off with? Also when you are trying to breed, depending on what fish you want, you might have to match the water paramaters from which the fish have come from.

Are you talking an external filter like canisters or hang on the backs?

to be honest to start off with something easy!

Don't forget about humidity control. Having many tanks in a small area can lead to condensation problems, with mold problems following. Given enough time, structural damage can occur.

Cover tanks as securely as possible to minimize evaporation, and provide some sort of ventilation to remove humidity. All the previous advice is on the money, insulate, plan a good electric service, and a centralized air driven filtration system. Also plan for water service, as well as waste water removal ahead of time.
