Fish recommendation?

I'm thinking about setting up another tank in the future, not sure what size yet, but will be probably a 48(l)x12(w)x18(h) or 48(l)x15(w)x18(h).

Anyway, the question is what fish would you recommend for this tank? I'm thinking along the lines of adding a JD, so it would have to be compatible fish.

As an aside how many gallons are these tanks?

emjay alot of it depends on how bit the JD is when you get him, and his teperment. I recomend that if he is a bit bigger like bert was when I got him, ( my JD is at around the 7" mark right now) that you have a tank divider handy, JDs can get pretty pushy. I added a 5.5" GT to the tank and he wasn't to happy about that so they are seperated. they each have half of the tank, but if you get them both at the same size( about an inch or two) there shouldn't be too many problems and the face markings of both fish will complement each other nicely.

I must hold my hand up and admit that I enjoyed reading about the antics of Bert & Ernie. Have they settled down now?

I was thinking about a JD, as I've seen them for £1 and they're very small, about 0.5", thus I could get 1, maybe 2 in case 1 dies, the now and let it grow out. I've never seen a GT available at any of the shops I go to, as mmost tend to be the normal Cichlids: Convicts, Firemouths, Severums, Jewels, Blue Acaras & occasionally Rainbows, so I'm kind of restricted in what I could put it with.

no emjay they havn't setteld down and will remain seperated till I can afford another tank for one of them. but remember to keep any tankmates to a size that when the JD is full grown that one they can defend themselves, and two that they can't fit into his mouth. the fire mouths MIGHT and that is a big time maybe work fine. I have yet to look at the site since I am not from that area but I have seen CFC recomend Trimar millions of times, you might want to check their site for fish.


try here they have tons of cichlids, need to update sci names but still the idea is there.
