Well. My molly just jumped about three feet out of the tank. I haven't a clue how long she was out for (appeared pretty dry) so I threw her back in the tank and she started swiming again . I pour in about 2 teaspoons of stress coat in the water. (ack she just tried jumping out again hold on... back). Ok the tank is pretty well covered now (as much as I can to allow air to still get in. anything other people would suggest?

I would try to get to a local hardware store and pick up some cheap plexiglass that is about the size of the opening in your tank. Use a piece of paper to trace the contour of the opening and then use this as a template to cut the plexi. Afterward use a 1/8th inch bit to drill holes into the plexi, be careful noot to crack it. Now you have a nice covering that also lets in air. I had to do this with my larger tank since my loaches tried to get out as well.

ok one the tank has a hood on it with an opening for the feeding, and filter (she got out of the feeding hole which is an 1.5 by an 1.5inch) secondly I'm a university student I don't know what Plexiglas would do that my hood wouldn't. a square foot of Plexiglas is here 20bucks and that is the cheapest (called around looking for some to make a hood out of my 33gal had to use something else instead). Sorry I'm a bit stressed at the moment. The fish looks like it busted an eye (it's a damnation ball it's pretty translucent there appears to be blood) water conditions seem as they normally are. What can I do to treat the fishes eye. I should also most likely note that she didn't come up for her evening feeding and has been acting pretty strange (as would I if I had been dropped about 4 feet being about an inch long). Hopefully the she returns to her usually self in the morning. She is currently in a tank by herself to limit the stress. I've got to say she has been pretty hardy, since I've brought her home she has had ammonia poisoning (LFS fault), ick, stress from being chased after by another aggressive molly (which has been returned to the same LFS that has ammonia problems), and now a leap of stupidity. Hopeful Gandhi (her name after being so small and peaceful) will have better luck. Any suggest would very much be appreciated.

Maybe Something's scaring her, like another fish? I don't know what causes a fish to start trying to live on land but we had a piranha that tried it once and lets just say it didn't grow any legs for the walk to the toilet...

Personally I'm not sure I know that she is blind in one eye now. She starting eatting again which I'm taking as a good sign but I don't want to release her back into the community tank so I'm not entirely sure what to do.

that's cruel! :(

Well after a day she appears to be getting worse again she keeps shaking uncontrollable from side to side (swimming quickly in one spot). She is still eating and swimming but bumping into plants. I can't tell if she is in pain but she is most definitely acting odd.

Wait, what's cruel? The piranha was dead, that's why we flushed him. He was a weird one from the start and after he bashed his head in a few times chasing minnies he went off the deep end (pun not intended) and started trying to get out regularly. When he finally did we didn't find him soon enough and it was a one way trip to the Porcelain god for that little buddy...

As to your molly, she could have brain damage now or something to that effect. Or she could just be old maybe? I've had betta's jump out of there tank but after a bit they were fine again. Your molly sure is a puzzler.... I wish I could help more :/

Sometimes changes in barometric pressure can make the water "feel heavier" to them and it will lead to jumping. Just a theory, but doesn't help the situation alot.

I would keep her water clean, continue to add some stress coat, and hope for the best

you know, i was just trying to be helpful. i am sorry that you did not describe your holes perfectly. furthermore if you don't want helpful responses then don't ask questions in the first place.
you say you are a "university student", as if to imply that i am a fool for insulting your intelligence in my offer about covering the holes to prevent your fish from jumping out. please, your response to my comment said enough. i am sorry for your fish, and although you apologized for being stressed, it doesn't excuse your rude response for my SOLICITED advice. :( :(

i got my brother-in-law to make me 2 screen lids (rubber not metal) for my 65 gallon ... 20 bucks although he owns his own business that works with windows and screens and whatnot so i dont know how much it would cost

Dump some liquid nitrogen on your head. One can get very frustrated in crisis situations. live with it.

I think you're being a little harsh here. I don't think a1wonder was trying to be offensive, I think he'she is stressed out, worried for little Gandi and wants to do something quickly.

Also, here, he/she wasn't trying to imply that you are stupid, it was just that university students don't have a lot of money, and buying plexiglass or whatever it is would not be a good option if it only does exactly what the hood does. Chill.
