Hi all,

I have a platy that is looking unwell and I know he will die shortly, as the same thing has happend to another platy and he died and so did a guppy. There are no signs of any infection but the best way I can describe the platy is that he has become bent about half way and when he swims he kind of goes left and right (as well as forwads). Having monitored the previous fish with this I noticed that eventually they will lay on the bottom before passing to the other side. The platy is still eating ok.

Does anyone have any ideas as to what it is and how it can be treated? - and if they have experienced something similar.

I have no ideas why but I am not very good at keeping guppys or platties!!

Thanks for your help

Any signs of being bloated, i would issolate the sick fish if you can, something is not right if you have lost 3 fish to it.

Water tests are all fine, and the fish still has it's normal colour, It is not bloated either.

I will try and get a picture of him and post it.

Yes i agree, you need to get test kits for ammonia, nitrates and nitrites and post us your exact results ASAP.
Does the fish look like its wasting away, has shrunken stomach, occasional skin infections, spinal curvature deformity, anorexia/refusal to eat, lethargy, hiding behavior, "hanging", clamped fins, loss of appetite at all?
Does the fish have great swimming upright despite active attempts to do so?
