Fish Prices

I Went Down To Minneapolis today and went to buy a couple fish and wow $5.00 for a female guppy thats crazy especially for assorted no specific strain. Up near where i live they go for $1.60 each.. is it just me or are those prices a little high

around all hte fish places around here guppies are about $4+, the cheapest being females.

I think the prices in the pet stores are high too. I have found they are much cheaper if purchased on the internet. I bought 10 endlers for $10 including shipping and I have about 25 guppies arriving today that I paid $15 including shipping.

Don't quote me but i hear there is a major problem with guppies, problems with the farms and their guppys dying, lfs around me don't have many at all. saying they can't get them. rumours of people buying online and losing whole tanks of fish. again don't quote me and it all might be a way of increasing prices on them. just thought i'd put my pennys worth to conversation

At my LFS there 5 males for £5 ($10ish) or £1.25 ($2.50ish) each. females are 5 for £4 ($8ish) or £1 ($2ish) each

normally very healthy too and they are kept seperate so you rarely get already pregnant females

At my lfs females are $2.00 and males are $3.00 and you could get a pair for $4.00

I find it a shame that suppliers and LFS's dont have an agreement to ship in their females seperated and as labelled strains as vertually all females are housed together regarding of strain and i think it would be a great idea to be able to get just a bog standard fancy female strain to match the male they have in LFS, but hey it'll never happen i suppose, the comment on suppliers losing guppy could be true but more than likely some LFS are trying to get in the more exspensive fish to boost their sales and trying to avoid guppies as they are so cheap, well in most places ofcourse

Helter if your reading this, add your imput mate on this guppy supplier thing, your experience appreciated

guppies are 6 for £6 here, or £1.25 each

thing is nowdays, guppies are so inbred that they die way too easily, not as hardy as they used to be
