Fish Prices - Take A Look ^^

Subject to viewing (later this week) i should have some fish availible for sale soon. What im wondering is if its worth me actually getting them or not, so im doing a little bit of market research starting here Im going to give some examples of the fish i should be getting and prices i can sell them at. S = Small, M = Medium, L = Large:

This is just a small sample of what i hope to be doing, catfish are my main love in fish keeping but i should be able to get everything from guppys/mollies to Siamese fighters, sharks, gouramis, barbs etc.

I basically want to gauge wether it will be worth it or not. Any replies are welcome.

sounds good if are you commercial. otherwise, i doubt people are going to pay prices like that off someone who has just bought the fish to sell them on. i'm talkin about the plecos here btw as i don't know much about the prices of the other fish.
like the L066 you are gonna sell, i could buy one of tropicalfish4u for an extra £3 with absaloute certainty.

Im setting up a fish house, theres lots of different things i want to try. To get the fish i want at a decent price i have to make minimum orders, and to get the fish from the people who can sell them too me at decent prices i have to have a pets licence.

Im aiming to make up the minimum orders with fish i know people are interested in and sell them on. The only extra im going to charge is to help towards the cost of a fish house. In the future who knows, i really enjoy fish keeping and if this all goes well i might take a chance and set up. As for the L018's im unsure. I need to check when i visit the place later in the week that they are 18's, at the moment im just going of the stock list i have.

Im hoping that the place im visiting is quality, i know the prices are pretty cheap. Im just trying to gauge wether its worth buying the extra in or not, or if its just going to end up costing more.

Posting fish will be an option, thats the next step im looking at. Does anyone know a reliable live fish courier?

As long as they are packaged correctly and the right amount of postage is paid most couriers should be ok (Tri-Mar use APC Overnight, [URL="http/www.apc-overnight.com)"]http/www.apc-overnight.com)[/URL]

why don't you start a shop on ebay?

and then after a year or two, you could consider setting up your own website and ask to advertise on this forum.
i don't know if they allow that sorta thing but if you show 2 years of 100% reliable fish distruibution, i don't see why not.
thats if you stick at it for that long lol i can imagine it'd be very frustrating.

look on websites rather than actual lfs's for prices. when you buy a fish off a website, you don't see the p+p price (which is added at the "checkout") so you can base your price pretty much on that. just deduct a small percentage off that price and you should have a considerable price which people would pay. if you were to grow a little, your own website etc, that you can charge that little bit extra.
an lfs, on the other hand, has bought the fish and had had to pay for the fish to be delivered so they charge that little bit extra to cover the cost.

i too have always wanted to do this, and hopefully will once i get a little older, and am an expert on business studies so if you need any help at all, i'd love to help

Thanks for the advice ^^ Currently looking into the couriers that will transport livestock once thats sorted then i will take the next step

eBay shop is something i have thought about, though with the new feeback system im not sure how long it would be before you start getting "idiot" negatives. A website is another option you can get a domain name now for as little as £3 a year, and i know a company that would host a full site for £12 a month, if you use paypal only then thats pretty much all your fees

Of course none of this matters if when i see the fish im not happy with them lol I just hope its as good as it sounds ^^

hi i am new too all this and am constantlly looking around at fish specialists because i love cat fish and can never find good examples.

the prices you have quoted are really good and if the list is just a sample in my opinion you will have great variety.

Yep i can drive, local deliveries would be fine but anywhere outside of a 20 mile area would be a no no, fuel is too expensive atm.
