Pfft if only I'd seen this yesterday; I'd have known the pleco one; I was sooo close to buying one a while ago.

Ha! Well I certainly wouldn't have got that last one - never heard of it before! Is this a juvie?

Is it normal for this species to have that sunken belly appearance or is he unwell? Fins looking a bit ragged, too, Carl. I'd keep a close eye on him...

Yep, the first one is a juvi Scarlet Badis. In the shop, he was in pretty bad condition, he was bullied by the other Scarlet Badis males, hence why he is so malnourished and tatty. But ATM he is eating much better with his wife and he is starting to colour up. Im so glad I gave the little fella and his missus a chance!

Ahhh, that was nice of you to take on a fish that was being bullied. Hopefully, he will blossom into a handsome young fella whilst under your care.

If over the next week or so he seems to be feeding well and yet still looking a bit gaunt and slightly hollow, you might want to get back to us with some more pics. Could be the stress from being bullied has caused a bacterial disease or made him prone to parasites.

But, hopefully, he'll be fine and the next pics we see will be this little guy in full glory (having just googled them I can see they have very attractive colouring when adult!)
