Hello

I started my tank about 6 weeks ago and added 4 tiger barbs to get the cycling process going

I then added two goldfish (they have been ok for 4 weeks and I realise they are cold water)
I then added a red tailed black shark and 2 angel fish
One of the angel fish died the next day
The other one and the shark have been ok for a few days but havent eaten as far as I can see?

The shark hides most of the time behind the filter on in a house ornament but seems ok otherwise and the angel doesnt look ill

Anyway, I then added two silver sharks today and they started swimming happily and eating ok

I have a 200 litre tank, my PH is 7.5 and ammonia and nitrate levels are ok according to the test kit I bought

Any ideas why the shark and angel wont eat?

Cheers

What do you mean by ammonia and nitrate being ok? What are the levels?

Do you have a nitrite test kit? It's possible and quite likely that you have nitrites in the water at this stage. Loss of appetite is common in ammonia- or nitrite-poisoned fish. Do the gills of any of the fish look brownish, purple or a deep inflamed red? Other causes are possible, but I'd start by doing daily 15 - 25% water changes and see if the affected fish start eating.

As a side note, if you realize goldfish are coldwater fish, why are you keeping them in a tropical tank? They are the champion poopers of the fish world, and will poop even more under tropical temperatures. If these are fancy goldfish, chances are they'll run into trouble with the angel (if it survives), the tiger barbs and/or the sharks. As a rule, fancy goldfish should only be kept with other fancy goldfish.

A 200 litre tank is not big enough for bala sharks in my opinion. Not only do they grow big, they're extremely active fish that need a lot of space. They can also become aggressive when not kept in groups.

In the future, I'd advise against adding new fish to a tank where the existing fish are clearly having some kind of trouble.

As ^ has already said, goldfish need to be removed asap, and so do the sharks, not big enough and you have 3.

can you give us you water stats please.
