After cycling with my tetras the first fish i put in my 36 gallon was an iredescant shark. But after a few days i had to take him back because he was not eating. Then after i took him back i went to the store and my shark was eating and looked fine in the stores tank. Now i have a Gold Nugget Pleco who i have had for a few days and he wont eat aswell like what hapenned to my iredescant. I have a couple of tetras in my tank and they eat normally. But i find it kinda weird that my iredescant and my Gold Nugget wont eat and they have been in at different times. is this coinsidence? or could there be something wrong with my water?
Thanks
Steven

Hi there,

How long had you had the fish before you started trying to feed them?

They will probably take a while to get used to their new surroundings. I know that when I got my bristlenose plecs they didn't come out for about a week, I hardly saw them, and then suddenly they where out and about and feeding fine.

A fish bought from the lfs will be stressed due to the journey and new home, give them time to settle in, we won't eat if were nervous well i can't anyway.
As long as you climatised them properly i would just give them time.

ive had the fish for about a week now, i started feeding him the next day after i bought him before bed. sometimes he will shred the algae wafer apart and not even eat it.

Try putting in some courgette - don't know many plec's that can resist it :)
