I got some new fish. They are all sitting at the top of my trank by the filter. My creamsicle molly I had before is rubbing himself on one of my new mollies. Before that he would swim 3 inches in one directions turn around go the other way and just kept doing that for like 10 mins. I have mollies, a pleco, guppies, a platy and a dwarf gouramie. They are in a 35 gal. tank.
Tank Stats:
Nitrate- between 40 and 80 (color on strip doesn't really match anything)
Nitrite- .5
Total Hardness- 120-250 (color on strip doesn't really match anything)
Total alkalinity-180
pH-6.4
Ammonia-.25
Temp. 79*

Not sure what to do. Should I do a water change and test again, add something. Help

Don't add anything just do a 25% water change ASAP. Ammonia and nitrItes should be nil and nitrAtes below 40. Yes, then test again.

Is the oxygen level ok ie: is your filter pumping water ok. Fish at the surface usually means lack of oxygen.

If your original mollie is a male he was probably getting bored by himsef. Rubbing against the new mollies could be mating.

Your stats are saying not cycled, i would do a water change.

Sorry everyone. I would have posted sooner, but my computer crashed. I did the water change (40%) that night My current readings are
pH-7.0
Ammonia-0
Nitrite-0
Nitrate-80
I added Prime, which is supposed to lower the Nitrates down, but my test kit said it would still read high after using it. Well, my mollies are alright, but now three of my female guppies are off. One sits on the bottom all the time, but swims up to eat. The other two just sit in one spot on top. They eat as well. I have 7 female guppies, 3 males, 3 mollies, 2 neon tetras, 1 dwarf gouramie, 1 albino chocolate pleco, 1 sunset mickey mouse platy, 1 baby neon, 1 guppy fry, 10 ghost shrimp, and assortment of snails that just appeared. All the other fish are fine. 1 of the females that sits at the top is kinda skinny. All the other females except for maybe one other are pregnant. Any clues?

I think things are getting worse. Almost all the females are sitting on the gravel. Stats are the same. What can I do?

Add an airstone for aeration, do a water change, the one that's skinny, is she eating and is there anything prutruding from the anus, and is the anus red inflamed, and what does it look like when she goes to the toilet, and does she have a bent spine or any other doformaties.

I did the water change, I have an air pump attached to an ornament in my tank. The female died already. Another one is on its way out :rip:

Being skinny if they eat well can be internal parasites or tb.
