Fish moved from 55 gallon into 36.5 gallon

I moved the fish I had in my 55 gallon into my new 36.5 gallon long tank. The fish that are currently in the 36.5 gallon tank are:

4 pearl gouramis
11 cherry barbs
7 harlequin rasboras
1 bristlenose pleco

It's looking kind of crowded in there. I'm thinking I have to cut the group sizes down?

I was thinking of keeping:

2 pearl gouramis (a pair)
6 cherry barbs
7 harlequin rasboras

Or what do you think?

I take it your new tank is a 48" * 12" * 18", acording to the stocking calculator here your around your limit, unless you want to do more regular water changes.

6 female cherry barbs and 5 males

Everyone gets along good..The male pearl chases the females sometimes but he did that in the 55 too. It's not constant chasing either it's just a little chase for a couple inches. I have a lot of plants and wood in the tank..I'm just worried that there seems to be a lot of waste being produced for the size of the tank.

Maybe I should just cut down on the cherry barbs and get rid of the bristlenose? I would like to keep all 4 of the pearls if possible.

Hi, No the dimensions are 45x12x16. It's 138 litres or 36.5 US gallons.

Sounds like a fairly sound plan. 2 male and 5 female cherry barbs should do just fine. You could probably even add to the rasbora school if you wanted.
