i just noticed one of my rummynose is missing the side of his head..... its really wierd....

he is acting completely fine, and his nose is bright red, yet it seems like he just has a clean hole.

his eye is gone plus a an area around it about 3mm in diameter. there is no fungus or anything, it looks rather clean.

any idea what it is?! i dont want it to spread if it can and i just feel bad for the poor fish.

 that makes me sick reading that

my friend has a fish (donno what kind) that is missing an eye and part of its face, but it seems just fine. its scary but i dont know what happened.

i dont know if this is the same incindent for you but i personally dont know what happened to the thing

sorry this happened, its not pleasant. althought i guess it could be worse.

What are the other fish in the tank? Water parameters? Size of tank? Cycled tank? and any other info...

It could just be an injury. Is this recent do you think? If yes you may want to add some salt (if your other fish allow for it) and watch closely in case of infection.

i have a bunch of other rummys, some cardinals, loaches,a bolivian ram, otos, an SAE and a couple paradise fish that chase each other around, but never the others.

everything is zero, even nitrate (which i dunno if zero nitrate is good or not)
it has been cycled since march.

it has to be recent. i honestly havent been watching my fish closely, but i have been keeping up with the waterchanges and cleaning.

so it actually could be a while ago, i just havent noticed cause ive been busy.

Well just watch them then. You can't add salt cause of the loaches but you should watch in case of infection. Also be prepaired to seperate the paradise fish. They can get rather aggressive towards one another as they mature. As for the cause of the tetra's injury - it may have been one of your other fish, I'm leaning towards the ram because paradise fish don't have much in the way of teeth..., or it could have been injured against a sharp rock or ornament while being chased or something.

sounds good, ill be sure to watch him carefully. thanks for the help
