yes hi this is andrea12 i haven't been on for awhile as my old computer crashed.I have had my 37 gallon going since December 19,2010.i was having issues but had help from a few wonderful people here that got me through, one being waterdrop. My levels are great i do my regular water and gravel clean even bought about month or more ago aqua clear power head and it is beautiful love it!!In the last week i am slowly switching to bottled water as i am not having any luck with our well water. Before changing over though i lost 2 puffer molly. Then i had some neons they were doing ok so i bought 3 more neons,in the last week i have lost my 6 neons except for 1,the second last one dyed tonight. Why is this happening. All my levels are perfect temp perfect aeration good??Please if anyone could help thank you.

Tetra's and mollies don't share same water requirement's.
Mollies need hard alkaline water with 12+dh (hardness)and ph between 7.5 and 8.0. (most agree on this)
Neons prefer a bit softer water with ph around 6.5 to 7.2.
Mollies like warm water 78 to 82 degrees F and neons prefer cooler temps with 72 to 76 degrees F being in their comfort range.
Both species need zero for ammonia and nitrites, and nitrAte levels around 20 ppm.

hi,well i took out my last neon this am,even the ones that i had since day one.my temp.sits at 78.So should i not use bottled water,i just seemed to always fight with my well water. So i was told by a friend who has saltwater fish to use bottled.None of fish look like they have anything. All my other different tetras are still doing really well.My nitrite and ammonia have been at 0ppm for over a month, the levels have not moved or even spiked.Still dont know what to do.Thank you

I would were it me,run some tapwater in a bucket and let it set for 12 to 24 hours and then take pH reading of this water. I would then choose fish that will thrive with the pH you have from the tap.
I might also consider using a water conditioner such as PRIME . Even though your well water may not have chlorine or chloramines,,it could contain perhaps some metals that fishes don't appreciate. PRIME will detoxify the metals should they be present as well as chlorine/chloramines and ammonia.
Some tetra's are more forgiving of moderately hard to hard water such as Pristella's, glowlight's,Lemon tetra's,bloodfin, and silver tipped.
Neon's are not all that hardy compared to the other's mentioned.
I would acclimate new fishes slowly to my tank by pouring the bag holding new fish and water into a bucket, and then adding a quarter cup of aquarium water to the bucket holding fish every four or five minutes until the bucket held twice as much water as that that was in the bag of fish.then I would net the fish from the bucket and release them into the aquarium.
