As per the title really......

i know some fish dont count as a complete fish inch.....

do bumble bee goby??

cory julli??

and dwarf gourami?

The one inch of fish per gal rule applys to any fish smaller than 5inchs, bumblebee gobys grow to about 2inchs(could be wrong though) but they are brackish fish anyways so wouldn't do well in a freshwater setup for long.

And cories wouldn't do any better in brackish. If anything they'd die faster.
I have to agrea I would never, never, never put a cory in a brackish tank.
and

never out a brackish fish, in a freshwater tank.

Bumblebee gobys are notoriously hard to feed anyways since they won't eat anything that isn't moving so will only take live foods which can be hard to get hold of on a regular basis, they do best in species tanks as well rather with other types of fish and can be a bit nippy.
Its seems to be quite fashionable at the mo to own a bumblebee goby but i wish people could understand more that they are difficult fish to keep with specialised needs.

I'd really like to get some but the only supplier is PetCo and with such a sensitive fish, I'm too wary to try it. The 10g I have set up for shellies almost went to bumblebees though.

Ask them what they feed them and when. Go watch and see which ones actually eat ;)

My bb's eat frozen bloodworm just fine but I think they were attempted at just feeding flake in the petshop..I'm sure that makes a big difference. I do feed them live blackworm about once a week just in case.

Bumblebee gobies will happily take frozen foods as long as they are blown about by the current in the tank, which as they are brackish fish is a essential part of the set up anyway.
