Hi all. I found this place surfing the web for fish help. Seems cool. I'll set up tank here.

Quick question how do you feel about the product "Microbe-lift Special Blend" the store said to put it in. to create good bacteria. water tested fine

54 gallon corner tank all was fine till I added this 8 days later lost 4 zebra dainos 2 ballon mollies and 2 other ballon mollies seem to be getting white crap on them 1 on the eye the other under belly. looks like cotton. Romoved the two and put in my 10 gallon hospital tank to treat.

if your water tests fine then there should be no need to add chemicals

Its not a chemical its a bacteria the good type so they say, taken from natural environment, not altered or engineered. it eats the waste in tank. does anyone out there use this.

Welcome to the forum.

Firstly, I have never used the product, that you mentioned, But if you water was fine before adding it, why did you add it?

You will now have to treat your fish for fungus.

Hope the fish you have left, pull through.

I use that product only when first cycling tank. Works great for that, but shouldn't need it once cycled and water tests are right. If tank running right should take care of itself with regular water changes.

Thanks. I new the store was just going for the sale. But he stressed very hard to me it would not hurt only help. ) I took the bait All seems stable at this point. I'll post in other forum section to follow rules

to the forum CB. even though it is bacteria it is still considered to be adding chemicals to the water. as it has been mentioned above once a tank is fully cycled the water takes care of it's self with the exception of frequent water changes of about 25-30%.

i htink to get rid of the fungus a good half an hour for each fish in a saline solution of use somekind of anti fungal thing from the pet shop. i dont know if the bacteria are responcible it doesnt matter now anyways what matters is helping ure fish im shure they will be fine but they will need treatment. im not shure i spelled saline right waht i mean is salt doesnt have to be much but it will help remove the fungus. dont add it to the tank just do a small bowl 1 spoon per gallon i think should do it.
