OK well i started a fish in cycle by accident because i got fish tank and fish without knowing that much about it and like most people others on here talk about I listened to my lfs.I am now trying to fix my mistake without having anymore fish die. SO far it has been running a week and the amnoia nitrate are all at 0, my total hardness is between 75 and 150( im using the test strips) my alkalin is between 120/180 and my ph is at 7.5. Problem is i had another fish die today and she was prego. Please help out anymore info i am more then happy to give.

Test strips are not well regarded around here. Liquid test kit such as aps fresh water master are much better - order on line.
Big daily water changes are needed. What are your nitrite readings (nitrate really is unlikely to be am issue)?

Change 75% of your water daily to keep the ammonia down. Are you using a dechlorinator in your water before adding to the tank.

The fluval u2 is a good filter but it's going to take quite a few weeks before it starts to do it's job properly.

See if you can get liquid testing kit as test strips are not very accurate at all. Keep testing for amonia and when it starts to drop begin testing for nitrite also.

Nitrite is also at 0. I will defiantly invest in the liquid kits. I have been spending all sorts of money trying to get everything right for them i feel so bad and ignorant for what i did. just want to fix it all.
