Fish In Cycle (Now Fishless)

Anytime you get a result that doesn't make sense, you can always run a second test to verify it. Shake the bottle, the tube, everything really well just to be sure it is mixed properly.

Also, take a sample of water from a different spot than the first test.

if it is true, that's great news! But, as some of the watchers like to say, its the trend that matters more than a single data point. Dose at the same level as yesterday and see if it hits zero again in 24 hours.

If it does, then you are good to start your 12 hour testing. The ammonia and nitrite should be hitting zero at 12 hours for a solid week for the fishless cycle to be complete.

Thanks mate.

Tested it 3 times now and still the same! have dosed again and will check again in the morning:)

Good stuff... :good:

Well it seems yesterdays tests may have been an anomaly:(

Latest test:

Ammo: 0.50ppm
Nitrite: 5ppm
Nitrate: 100ppm ish
pH 8ppm

Bit disappointed, more so because my daughter got all excited at the thought of having fish soon, I will keep my mouth shut in future:) Anyway onwards and upwards!!

Sorry. It seemed quite a bit fast. Keep it up.

All still going (well I think)

Latest results:

21.06.2011 AM

Ammo: 0 ppm
Nitrite: 3ppm
Nitrate: 80ppm

Dosed to 2ppm

21.06.2011 PM

Ammo: 0.25 ppm
Nitrite: 4ppm
Nitrate: 80ppm

The Nitrite seems to be dropping a bit quicker recently, which is good right? although it seems to be fluctuating quite a bit!

Don't focus on individual readings... look at the overall trend. It's going very well. :good:

Well my Ammo seems to be coming down faster, dosed it up to 2ppm ish this morning and its at 0 now, the question is should I dose it up again now? or wait for the morning?

Only dose every 24 hours. What is your nitrite reading?
