Fish In A Spin

was going to ask the same question too?

Hope he survived

Another platy lost in the night, was hiding in the leaves yesterday, dead this morning. I don't know what I have done, I am seriously suspecting that the stock in the LFS was a bit dodgy as they all came from the same tank, only got two platys left now, and the mollies and babies in my tank are all fine?

just came in to check and well there is good news and bad news

the good news is he is not swirling any more
the bad is because he was dead.

I am a tad annoyed and upset as my tank has been going from strength to strength and have not lost a fish for some time now. are well

Awww, well I kind of expected to hear that really, Alex. Doesn't mean you're doing anything wrong, though, so don't get paranoid that your tank is suddenly contaminated or whatever LOL.

These things can happen any time. Like I said, sometimes there can be a hidden ailment (something internal) from the time we bought them, or a parasite in a piece of food they've eaten - how are we to know that? Some are more iffy than others, like the tubifex worms (freeze dried, frozen or live). Obviously with live foods they carry more of a risk, unless you know the source to be completely reliable and that the food has been gamma-irradiated.

Hmmm...now I've just said that, I can't help but wonder about those mosquito larvae you fed them that you rescued from that tub of dirty water outside...

Hopefully the rest of your fish will be fine!

Are the snail eggs still ok btw?

I wouldn't take it 'personally', DGs are quite fragile at times and can just drop dead without any fault of the keeper. I had a wonderful DG that one day started to hide in the plants and then two days later was floating belly up. No signs of disease at all.

Hopefully all will be well. just done a massive water change and given all my filter media a clean in tank water.
The Snail eggs are in a diff tank the 1st batch slipped dpwn below the water line and started to be nibbled on my the cories so i took that clucth out and binned it but the 2nd clucth appears to be doing fine. will keep you updated on them. :)

My other DG looks lost now. They were both mails didnt really every fight (only over live food) but would always swim around together normally. should i get another one or maybe 2 females for him.

Bless Him.
R.I.P.

Keep an eye on your other fish closely.

If any problems get back to the board.
Good Luck.

That is what i meant get 1 other mail or get him 2 females.

I wouldn't risk a male, think you got lucky the first time judging by others experience. The other problem is that the current male will now see the tank as his territory, increasing the risk of it all kicking off should another one be added.

good point. on the hunt for 2 females then. none of my lfs ever have females in tho as they dont sell because of their plain colours.
