Fish Idiots

I just wanted to see everyone's stories on past experiences of people who were complete idiots when it came to fish.

I have a story, but the Idiot is not me instead it's an employee who I talk to today when I visited one of my LFS. I suggested to him that I'm looking for maybe a 20 gallon tank, as I was thinking of setting a piranha tank(maybe a couple) and he told me that the bare minumum for one piranha is a 75 gallon tank I played along and also he pointed out to me a 125 gallon tank which is around $1200 and told me oh you could put a bunch in there but they might get nasty with each other. One Hell of Salesman eh!!!!!!!!

When I first started out, I bought a 5 gallon tank from Walmart. The associate had no idea what he was doing, and neither did I.

I ended up buying around 17 fish, and all but 3 died. The iridescent shark , a huge fancy guppy , and a black moor .

The " " are because I should never have had those fish to begin with, especially as a combination and because of the small tank.
