I was at my local aquarium today and they had some new fish in their big tropical freshwater tank that did not have an ID plaque and I'd never seen them before. They looked very similar to goldfish but with black freckles on them and each had a black spot on its tail (the tail itself, not the fin). They varied from yellowish gold to more red in colour and they schooled together quite tightly, being active swimmers. Does anyone know what they might be?

hmmm well this is a goldfish that resembles some of the description, but does not have the red in colour nor the schooling affect.. here is a picture

lmao this might be silly but next time you see them and there is no tag take a picture and or ask. what store was it, just wondering

Huh. They do kind of look like a small goldfish!

They were cheery little fellows. Of course if I had a tank as large as they did, I'd love to keep a shoal of them. They must have had about forty!

I love them and was planning on getting some but then i read about how big they get (6-7 cm) and was all

because a decent sized group wouldn't fit in with the stock i had at the time.
The curse of baby fish in lfs strikes again!
