The top fish is a very skinny & poorly looking albino red finned, or ruby , shark.

You have a poor selection of fish there - only the gouramis at the surface stay small enough for your tank & none are fish that should be risked in a cycling tank :(

To improvethe tank you need to sort out the decor & ideally take the fish back to the shop.

Put the tall plant in front of the filter & turn the heater 90 degrees along the lower back.

Decor is your choice but hiding the works will push the eye to a chosen focal point.

I think a few platties would have been a better choice of fish. It's what i started with (and still have because they keep having babies), and they're a good hardy fish that can tolerate the tank cycling.

Hey when i bought these fish,i knew nothing about keeping a tank, they were recommended to me by the lfs as starting fish for my tank.It was after i got the lot that i came across this website and found out what fish i should be using for cycling.
I feel ripped off by my lfs   ,no need to say i wont be going back to them again. Now that ive got them i guess im stuck with them,so i have to do my best with what ive got,im only new at this,it was only 2 weeks ago that all i knew about fish was they tasted good with chips.Anyway thanks for the tips i will do as you recommend. The red fin shark is only a baby,so thats why he looks poorly(i think).

According to this website the angelfish only grows 5-8 Inches in captivity,so that should be a good size for my tank...shouldnt it ???

Angel fish can sometimes attack gouramis, although mine have lived together for the last year since they were small and i havent had any problems, until now that the angel fish are a lot bigger and gourami's about the same size as when i got them

The fish you have is in a very poor state (Epalzeorhynchos frenatum) albino. He/She is skinny, hollow bellied, clamped fins and is not deporting correctly. Providing your water quality is OK for the species in question (please check) try feeding live or frozen foods.
