Hello everyone, I am new to the forum.

I started a aquarium image website awhile back because I am orginally from Taiwan, there is a lot of marine life at Asian country that we normally don't see here and I got the permission from a magazine company in Taiwan for me to use their pictures and make a website out of it.

However, I am having hard time identifying the aquatic animals from the images. I am not that expert and I was hoping someone can help me out.

The site is www.WallpaperFishTalk.com
I am looking for common names & scientific names.

Enjoy the pictures and please help me identify the fish on the site. Thanks.

Nice site, just havin a look at it now, seens pretty good

Thanks for the comment :)

Got a question I forgot to ask -
I am really confused about the naming of the fish

There are discus or plecos with different style/color and etc, they all have different common name, but do they all have the same scientific names?

Goldfish for example, scientific name Carassius auratus auratus, what about fancy goldfish? Same scientific name?

Yep, same as all dogs have the same sci name even though great danes are vastly different to, say, chiuauas.

When you're dealing with different colour morphs, you have to check- while they normally are the same species, some species you'd think have colour morphs of the same species are actually different species that look the same but are different colours (like assorted neon tetra colours). www.fishbase.org is a good site, you can search by common name or sci name and from there work out a proper ID.

FYI; goldfish are generaly refered to as Carassius auratus these days
and not Carassius auratus auratus
all other types of goldfish are Carassius auratus Var.
the Var. standing for varient ;)

awesome site and great pics.

only trouble is im running 1600x1200 res so the images only take up a lil of my screen so i cant use them for backgrounds.

EDIT - i stand corrected!

jus found a nice big one.

maybe you could add the res sizes to the images index?

Yeah I'll probably do that tomorrow, since not all the pictures are wallpaper friendly.

Thanks guys for helping me understand the name issue. I'll update on the goldfish scientific names as well
