Fish Id

Indeed, Green Terror (Gold Saum) more recently reclassified as Andinoacara Rivulatus from Aequidens Rivulatus.

i was sold it at MA as a blue acara, but when i got it home i didnt look right so i thought id ask on here

will i cause any problems with my planned stocking

1 x red spotted sev
1 x firemouth
4 x sharphead or pearl eartheater
1 x Hoplarchus psittacu
20 x columbian tetra
1 x royal plec

What size is it? IME, GT's, particularly males turn very aggressive around 6-8" and will do its very best to make the tank its own. I had a male at 6" take over the tank and terrify a large male severum. On the other hand, a female I had wasnt any bother to anyone, occassionally took a dislike to the geophagus, but nothing beyond a bit of chasing.

its about 5" at the moment, when i put it in it and the firemouth had a bit of a power struggle (gt won) but it backs off when the sev of about the same size goes near it!

can you sex it from that pic?

Well the males have more pointed longer dorsal and anal fins and more coloured up than the females, at 5" Id say it was male, but could wrong, give it time to settle and then get another pic.

Very surprised that was sold as a BA as looks nothing like one. They look similar when small, like when I bought mine, though she was only an inch including tail.

My female HATED a Pearl earth eater I tried with her, not kept your other cichlids on so not sure, but there could be more battles on the horizon. It'll ignore the tetras and Plec.

To be honest if it is arguing this early on then I don't hold out much hope of it fitting in. They tend to pick fights, and won't stop until they win. There's a chance it could work if all the other fish fall into line, but then bullying can still happen as they realise the other cichlids are weaker.

My personal experience of these fish, baring in mind mine was female so in some eyes less aggressive, was a beautiful fish but a complete b$6ch.

I'd take it back if you want a peaceful tank.
